Biography

Hello and welcome to my blog.

My name is Christine Iishin Horner. The name Iishin was given to me by my Zen teacher, Genpo Roshi. It means "one heart" or "one mind".

I am 46, married to Martin and have 4 children: Joe (14), Cameron (8), Erin (5) and Rosie (5). My children are home educated and we follow an autonomous (child led) form of home education. We live in Sheffield in the North of England.

After leaving school I trained to be a radiographer, but in my twenties developed an interest in complementary medicine and natural nutrition which conflicted with the world I was working in. This came even more into focus when I worked in breast screening. I saw at first hand how the orthodox medical world worked. I didn't reckon much to it and thought there had to be a better way.

I gave birth to my first child in 1995 and became fascinated with natural birth, breastfeeding and all things to do with attachment parenting. After a short spell back at work I left my job, as it conflicted with my profound need to be with my baby.

Since then I have been divorced, remarried and have given birth, at home, to three more children. All my births have been of the natural variety, and I am proud of them all. Giving birth to my twin girls at home, in water, was my proudest moment and an incredibly empowering experience. (My birth story is on my blog under Articles.) I wish all mothers could have such a positive birth experience.

I have been a raw food advocate since 2002. I believe that raw and living food changes our energy and vibration, and that it is a huge catalyst for change. I believe that we have so much more potential than we believe possible. We just have to allow ourselves to see it and experience it.

My interest in self development and transformation has led me to studying for my Life Coaching Practitioner's Diploma (with Noble Manhattan), so I can encourage others on their path.

I am also a Raw Food Coach and trained with Karen Knowler in 2007.
